Elephant Festival

Third Grade students first drew their elephants on white copy paper.  you can find the steps we used to create out elephants here.  We then taped our drawings to these aluminum sheets I bought on Blick.  They placed their drawing on top of the aluminum and then traced it.  We had foam sheets under the aluminum so there was a cushion to create an indent in the aluminum. Once they were done tracing they peeled off their drawing. (many were ripped from the tracing, but you throw it away after so it doesn't matter.) And for a finishing touch, because I felt they were still a little blah, we added colorful Shapries to add some pazazz:) It really reminds me of the beautiful elephant festivals in India.  Something we learned about before doing this activity.
